Briefing session for the 2025 graduate school entrance examination (secondary recruitment), individual consultations by field

Eligibility: Applicants for admission in the academic year 2025 (secondary application: scheduled for January 2025) and applicants for admission in the academic year 2026 and onward.

• 14:00～14:20　Greetings from Department Chair / General Explanation (Prof. Ifuku)

Overview and schedule description of information sessions and consultations
Introduction and overview of the laboratories of the Department of Applied Life Sciences
Overview of graduate school entrance examinations (second round for admission in 2025 and 2026)

• 14:30〜15:10　(Round 1): Individual explanation of each field (laboratory) (40 minutes)

Visit the field of your first choice. Break into groups for each field of your choice and give individual explanations.

• 15:10～15:50　(Round 2): Individual explanation of each field (laboratory) (40 minutes)

Visit the field of your second choice. Break into groups for each field of your choice and give individual explanations.

• 15:50〜16:30　(Round 3): Individual explanation of each field (laboratory) (40 minutes)

You may visit a third field of your choice, or return to your original field to listen to the talk. There will be an exit during the tour, and the flow will be disbanded.

• 16:30〜17:10　(Preliminary round): Individual explanation of each field (laboratory) (40 minutes)

You may visit the lab of your third choice or lower, or return to your original lab to talk to them again. After the interview, the flow will be disbanded.

Parasitic plants in the Orobanchaceae parasitize by extending their roots toward the roots of the host plant and connecting to them. We have elucidated this mechanism using molecular biological techniques and would like to introduce these findings..

The 3rd Applied Life Sciences Seminar

In this seminar, Eole Fukawa from the Laboratory of Bio-Analytical Physical Chemistry

 will present their research recently published in Electrochimica Acta (press release).

“Catalytic Reaction Mechanism of a Conductive Enzyme”

This research elucidates the catalytic reaction mechanism of a conductive enzyme using methods from computational science, enzyme engineering, and bioelectrochemistry. The seminar will cover the insights gained from each approach and discuss potential applications of this research.

(Purpose and outline of the meeting)

This is an excellent opportunity to discuss lab selection, lab visits, studying for exams, and more in an informal setting with the lead faculty member of each lab.

The morning session is an online information session and individual consultation via Zoom, and the afternoon session is a face-to-face individual visit.

Those who wish to attend are requested to pre-register in advance for preparation purposes.
Pre-registration for each is required by May 31, the day before the event.

For individual visits, please coordinate the time of your visit with the lead faculty member of each laboratory in advance.

It is acceptable to visit more than one lab.

Participation and visits by 2nd and 3rd year students as well as this year’s candidates are welcome.
